Hurricane Harvey: How you can help

Believe it or not, Texas is still underwater in a lot of areas and with dams and rivers overflowing, evacuations are still being ordered even as of today – Friday, September 1, 2017. It’s surreal to most of us here and I’m sure it’s hard for others to wrap their minds around how destructive this hurricane really was to southeast Texas. Those of us here who weren’t severely impacted are at a loss for explanation as to how we got so lucky. We are all rallying efforts locally and afar to help in the enormous recovery and you are encouraged to do what you can when you can. Read on for a few suggestions.

There are a LOT of wonderful charities running at full tilt that will benefit people hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey and the continuing floods in Texas. I will keep updating this post with more information and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

If YOU were affected by the hurricane and need assistance, please let me know so our #succulent community can try to put something together to help you out.

United Ways of Texas – Houston was only one of many communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Beaumont, Orange, Port Arthur, Rockport, Corpus Christi, and many others in Southeast Texas and West Louisiana need our help.

Houston Undocumented Communities Flood Relief Fund
Countless immigrant families were too afraid to reach out to help for fear of being arrested or deported. Let’s show them we hear them, we see them, and we care for them.

Refugee Services of Texas– Serves some of the most vulnerable among our communities.

Houston Food Bank  – The best thing you can do to help the Houston Food Bank right now is to make a donation of money designated for disaster relief.

Greater Houston Community Foundation –  Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner established this fund for hurricane relief.

More ways to donate including Amazon wish lists

Also, if you purchase anything from my Supplies page, a portion of sales goes to me on a gift card as an Amazon affiliate which I’ll use to purchase items off of wish lists for hurricane relief.

Finally (for now) I’m going to hold a few auctions and a giveaway to help generate donations. Follow me at Sucs for You on Instagram  for details to be announced.
