Digging up my big Aloe – Moving Your In-ground Plants

I am moving to a new house and my BIG in-ground Aloe maculata is coming with! It’s 4-feet wide (+22 lbs) and I’m digging it up to relocate it by myself. Wish me luck!

The whole thing took about 45 minutes to dig up. I worked my way under and around the plant until I could feel the big stem, then I carefully freed as many smaller roots I could until it was loose enough to pull up and out of the ground.
