Last night was amazing! not only did I get to watch this gorgeous flower open and experience, it’s intoxicating fragrance, there was a visitor! A surprise visitor! I was very very surprised!

What a strange feature! When these Cereus peruvianus flowers are finished blooming, they easily snap off the stalk and leave behind the styles and stigmas – SO weird!

We had some nice flowers on this big Cereus peruvianus ‘Peruvian Apple cactus’ last fall, and now we’re getting more this spring! Watch how fast the buds grow over 10 days. The flowers are massive!

I received cuttings of this Stapelia gigantea over 2 years ago and finally got my first flower from it! The bud took nearly 2 weeks to fully mature and open although it looked ready to pop after 1 week.
