The answer… yes! In this video I show you how I cross-pollinated two Astrophytums I had in flower at the same time. But since they’re different species, I wasn’t sure what the results would be. It didn’t take long before the A. myriostigma ‘Bishop’s Cap’ produced a fruit and split open.

Here’s a 2 month update on the Astrophytum asterias I started back on February 8th 2024 in the video ‘Sterilizing soil and starting Astrophytum asterias seeds – Microwave and plastic bag methods.’
This is the first time watering them since I started them. I’m keeping them bagged for at least another month to help them build stronger roots and defenses against fungal gnats and soil pathogens like mildew.

WOW I had such a good time shopping the fall Houston Cactus and Succulent Society sale! Getting to talk to the growers and learn from their wisdom is such a treasure I’ll never get enough of… and I’ll never get enough of their amazingly healthy and happy plants!
