The answer… yes! In this video I show you how I cross-pollinated two Astrophytums I had in flower at the same time. But since they’re different species, I wasn’t sure what the results would be. It didn’t take long before the A. myriostigma ‘Bishop’s Cap’ produced a fruit and split open.

Here’s a 2 month update on the Astrophytum asterias I started back on February 8th 2024 in the video ‘Sterilizing soil and starting Astrophytum asterias seeds – Microwave and plastic bag methods.’
This is the first time watering them since I started them. I’m keeping them bagged for at least another month to help them build stronger roots and defenses against fungal gnats and soil pathogens like mildew.

A Moon Cactus is actually Gymnocalycium mihanovichii grafted to dragonfruit stock, Hylocereus undatus! Sometimes the grafted cactus loses its will to live and stops uptaking the energy from the base.
