This is a super easy hands-off way to propagate Begonia erythrophylla ‘Beefsteak Begonias.’ Starting cuttings in water takes no effort at all but when it’s time to transfer them to soil, it’s important to maintain a lot of moisture until new roots are established.
Beefsteak Begonia is a true heirloom plant. I’ve heard from so many people about how they were given a few cuttings, or inherited a plant from an older relative. That’s how I got my starter leaves — from my friend Kathy back in 2018. Now I have this full pot of beautiful Beefsteak Begonias that I’ve been able to share with many others as well!
Once your cuttings are rooted in water, you’ll want to transfer them to soil. I’ve done this many times before and want to show you how easy it is. You can use this method to move most water-rooted propagation to soil.
